We took our first trip to Top Mart, our local Korean grocery store. When we made our way to the back of the store where they keep the seafood, meats and kimchi. I was checking everything out when I hear gagging sounds beside me. Lauren was about to lose her cookies. I picked her up and quickly carried her to the front of the store. Her little eyes were watering and she said Mommy that smell made me choke.
We have found several Korean snack foods that we like. The crackers and potatoes chips good and Katie Ann loves Chic Choc (Korean chocolate chip cookies).
Today, E-Mart. Essentially, a large 3-story Korean Wal-Mart. The parking is underground and you take an elevator to the different shopping levels. So, we get on the elevator with quite a few Korean. Really, the elevator was full. When out of nowhere a bunch of people start running in. I'm thinking, hurry, close. They made and we were packed in there like sardines. Doors open, we exit, turn around and see the door closing with Aaron still in there. Our polite american boy offered to let someone out in front of him. I really wasn't sure how he would handle it but he came out grinning. There was some backward parenting advice after that.
We ate McDonalds and then Baskin Robbins for dessert. It was good to see and eat something so familiar but difficult at the same time. Morgan and Aaron were so strained and nervous. It is very crowded in Korea and everything is different.
I'll take pictures in the markets after the kids start school. It is to difficult to take pictures and make sure we keep our crew together.
