Christmas

It's been such a long time since my last post. School activities and preparing for the holidays kept me away from the computer. I was really stressed trying to figure out how to handle a bi-continental Christmas. We decorated our house and put up a tree but we all missed the lights, music and spirit you feel when surrounded by people celebrating the season with you. I thought just clicking my way through the stores would be so easy but I really missed the whole shopping experience!!! Plus, I had Bob looking over my shoulder asking "how are we going to get that home"? The total lack of commercialism showed when the kids gave us really short wish lists. Santa visited them in Virginia and left them shiny new bikes in Korea.

I was warned that coming back and shopping could be overwhelming and it was. Seeing all the choices and convienence foods again was indescribable. I wanted to buy everything but couldn't make a decision about anything. I caught my self standing in the aisles just staring!!! We didn't have a chance to eat out a lot but I think the favorite was pulling into Sonic. My mouth is watering just thinking about it.

Our trip home was wonderful. The schedule was demanding but we got to visit both sides of the family and truly enjoyed seeing everyone. We flew Northwest from Busan to Tokyo, through Minnesota and then into DFW. The next morning we flew from DFW to Charlotte and drove 3 hours to Virginia where we stayed a week. Charlotte back to DFW where we rented a van and drove six hours to Canyon for a week. Being back in the states was GREAT but odd at the same time. We were just passing through Ft. Worth and stayed at a hotel near the airport. It felt so weird to be so close to home but not at home.
Flying Northwest was a little disappointing. They did a good job taking care of Missy. However, I missed the service we experienced flying Korean Air. Bob asked a flight attendant to bring him something one time and she was so curt and rude. Then, while i was trying to get all Missy's things in order before the sky cap took her, the flight attendant said "if your not ready these men have more important things to do". I understand safety is their main priority but I was really taken aback by their attitude.

We were able to bring Missy back with us and she is doing great. She still sleeps on my side of the bed and Lauren drags the poor dog all over the house. We realize that our feelings for canines aren't shared by everyone here and try to keep a close eye on her. Someone offered to buy her at the airport in Busan.
